Of course I missed the party :(
“CAN you believe the things that must have happened in these rooms in the last 600 years?” asked the American video artist Bill Viola, practically giggling as he entered the jaw-dropping chambers of the Palazzo Vecchio.
The palazzo has been the city’s emblematic center of power ever since the reign of the Medicis. But at that moment, on Monday night, what was happening there looked a little odd. Behind Mr. Viola, Gucci commercials were playing on a wall-size display, celebrating the opening of a Gucci museum.

What a great place to house the Gucci museum, the Palazzo Vecchio. Such an interesting combination of old culture and history, and new cutting-edge fashion innovation. It works.

Larry the party was in the Palazzo Vecchio but the museum (and shop and cafe) are actually in another palazzo in Piazza Signoria - in the eastern corner.
